Alex’s amazing story of fixing her period and hair growth
I love Alex’s story, as it’s yet another example for how our bodies want to ovulate, and it can just take some small tweaks to get it there. It also shows that symptoms like hair growth and acne can be reversed without harsh drugs like spiro or hormonal birth control. Enjoy this amazing story of this incredible woman. Clare x
Since beginning puberty, my cycle has been irregular and difficult to manage. My primary care doctor told me at age 16 that irregularity was normal when girls first go through puberty and that my cycle should begin to regulate itself. It never really did. The summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college I saw an OB/GYN for help. I was tired of the irregularity. At that appointment, I was told I had symptoms of PCOS. The staff launched into information about how I differed from the “typical” profile of a woman with PCOS, but they did a sonogram and that confirmed I did, in fact, have PCOS.
Having a diagnosis initially eased a lot of my concern about irregularity and gave me clarity and treatment options.
I began birth control and the next several years were a roller coaster of on-again-off-again birth control treatments and dealing with irregularity, acne, hair growth, hair loss, weight gain, and fatigue.
Fast forward 10 years and I was fed up. I was so tired of birth control being my only option to control all my symptoms. It did not matter who I saw – dermatologist, primary care doctor, OB/GYN – birth control was the answer. I knew birth control messed with my emotions and weight. I did not like the idea of being on the pill indefinitely.
Desperate for other options, the internet became my go-to for natural treatment options. I was overwhelmed by the number of blogs, podcasts, and personal stories about women who “healed their PCOS naturally” with various supplements. I took detailed notes about what supplements and diets I should try.
Page after page of notes and I felt I was nowhere closer to managing my PCOS naturally.
I tried organic foods, Paleo, Ketogenic, eat-whatever-you-want, gluten-free, and several supplements to no avail. I was about to give up hope. In a last-ditch effort, I googled once more “heal PCOS naturally” and found Clare’s website. FINALLY! I was hooked – here was someone who has given her life (and her own story) to help others with PCOS. I signed up and was so grateful for Clare’s expertise.

Beginning the protocol was difficult at first. Days 1 through 3 were marked by sugar withdrawal symptoms (headaches, fatigue, irritability, etc.), but once I was past the sugar withdrawals I began to feel better.
I was no longer bloated all day. I had energy and increased focus throughout my workday. I was sleeping better at night. My hair loss and my unwanted hair growth slowed. My acne significantly lessened. I had a natural period for the first time in several years. I could begin to tell when I ate something that did not settle well with my body. My cravings for sugar decreased over time. I’ve even found fruits and 85% dark chocolate to be too sweet at times! (That was never the case before Clare.)

To anyone on the fence, the effort that Clare’s protocol takes is worth it! One of the most surprising things has been learning what each supplement, dietary change, and exercise program does to benefit my health. Clare is a wealth of knowledge about PCOS, autoimmune disorders, and natural treatment options. I am so grateful I found her, and I feel the difference she has made in my life daily.
